The AirSync Tongue-Tie Process: Understanding & Treating the Person

How We Treat

Infants

  • BabyLase Laser Therapy - A must co-therapy for treating newborns, infants, waddlers and some toddlers in conjunction with tongue-tie surgery

    • In some cases (or by parental choice) this is a non-surgical approach to reorganizing the fascia of the tongue-tie

  • Infant CO2 Laser Frenotomies - utilizing the LightScalpel CO2 Laser.

    • As the child begins to approach 6 months of age, the approach may change to help AVOID oral aversion. This is something that will be discussed at your new patient appointment as to how to best approach the surgery for baby’s comfort, baby’s emotional well-being, for the most optimal surgical outcome.

    • We have pioneered a safe and minimally invasive anesthesia process for the little humans so we can numb the area, treat the area and the child will have no memory of the event. This helps to minimize emotional trauma or oral defensiveness that could result.

    • And sometimes we have to recommend sutures…

Bigger Humans: Waddlers, Toddlers, Children, Adults

  • Functional Frenuloplasties - The Breathe Institute/Dr. Zaghi functional approach for assessment/treatment of tongue-tie

  • This is a function first approach to obtain optimal healing and optimal restoration of function.

  • AirSync is one of the longest standing disciples of The Breathe Institute method to assessment and surgery and was one of the first practices to build an in-house oral myofunctional team in 2018.

  • Dr. Santiago was the first WA state dentist/surgeon to be educated in the technique in early 2018 and implement the functional approach in mid-2018 into the practice. AirSync has committed to staying up-to-date with all things relating to the Functional Frenuloplasty technique, so much so that we have taken the course 4 times over the last 5 years!

  • Following proper assessment and treatment plan protocols including sleep physiology assessment, CBCT of airway space prior to surgery, making sure there is enough room in the mouth for the tongue prior to the tongue-tie surgery, working with a competent Oral Myofunctional therapist, and more, AirSync is utilizing precision diagnostics to get precise and predictable treatment outcomes.

    • Make sure that your provider is assessing the airway and tongue space prior to planning a tongue-tie surgery.

    • The technique and the surgeon are equally as important as an precision treatment plan. Do your research!!!
