Baby Tongue-Tie Treatment

AirSync’s Tongue-Tie History

Dr. Santiago was the first infant laser tongue-tie provider in western WA. AirSync was also one of the first practices in WA state to purchase and utilize the LightScalpel CO2 laser in practice. Years of clinical experience and continuing education have allowed Dr. Santiago to offer an unparalleled patient experience to her baby patients and families.

After years of providing laser frenectomies and functional frenuloplasties for children and adults, we know how to get the best outcomes for the patient. We determine this based on factors like their age, size, challenge, and tolerance. We want your family to have the most successful outcome, therefore your treatment plan is customized for you or your baby.

Unique to our practice are the one-week and 3-month follow-up appointments in which we ensure that wound healing is optimal and function is mending. Additionally, we are here to address future needs for your baby/child if concerns with sleep quality, airway/breathing issues, jaw development, etc. which arise.

For newborns and young infants, we often perform the CO2 laser frenectomy the same day as the examination. In some cases, some physical therapy/occupational therapy is needed prior to the procedure to have a successful surgical outcome. This "pre-habilitation" can be missed by many providers who just seek to treat the tongue-tie, without regard to restoring the optimal behavior. There needs to be a focus on the function of the infant before and after the procedure.

Depending on the circumstances, a different approach altogether may be needed. Factors like the baby's size/weight/strength, whether they have teeth, whether they have begun weaning onto solid foods are all taken into account. A detailed functional and structural evaluation should be performed, where we will discuss the best approach for your baby.

We are excited to help you and look forward to meeting your family.
