Vitamin D and COVID protection. What’s the link?

Did you know that a disproportionate number of those who have died from COVID been ill with chronic illnesses?

We have to pause and think about why that is. Why are there asymptomatic carriers that never express a symptom?  How does the body decide to respond to coronavirus exposure?  Why is one body's response so incredibly different from another's?

The response is the defense is as good as the host’s immune system.

Optimal Vitamin D and B levels equate to optimal immune system function and protection from infectious disease, ie COVID 19.

This means that even when you come into contact with a positive COVID carrier, your body will work to defend against infection.  People with phenomenally functioning immune systems also have optimal vitamin D levels, which creates a healthy gut microbiome. These people tend to become the asymptomatic carriers that never show a sign of the illness, and then have a positive antibody test.

If you have a strong immune system with no underlying illnesses, you will likely manifest mild symptoms and a short duration of infection. In other words, your immune system is protecting you and working appropriately.

As we have seen, this is not the case for the majority of people this last year. This means that the majority of people are not functioning with optimal Vitamin D and B levels. The source of vitamin D levels often cannot be controlled with diet, and need supplemental medication to increase intake to the correct level.

Adjusting your vitamin D level is not as simple as taking a multivitamin or vitamin D supplements. You will need an expert to evaluate and monitor your levels over a 90 day period in order to ensure your body is receiving and processing the correct amount of vitamin D.

Wondering if you have a vitamin D deficiency? Let me ask you this. Do you have trouble falling asleep, respiratory issues, a sleep disorder, sleep problems, heartburn, ADHD, colic, reflux, headaches, or a number of other chronic issues? If you answered yes to any of these, you are likely vitamin D deficient.
