SLEEP OPTIMIZATION

Optimized Sleep is the Foundation of Good Health

Most people are surviving, not thriving—and breathing disordered sleep is often the hidden reason. Sleep problems impact every system in the body. Poor sleep in infants shows up as feeding struggles, irritability, growth delays, and breathing issues; in children it’s missed developmental milestones, behavioral challenges, and chronic illness; and in adults there is fatigue, brain fog, and disease. Left untreated, disordered breathing and sleep can lead to life- threatening conditions like cardiovascular disease and dementia.

Sleep apnea is a full-blown disease, but harmful sleep disruptions begin long before an official diagnosis. Many patients are “not sick enough” for treatment under current standards, yet symptoms are already eroding health. If your child snores, wakes often, wets the bed, has frequent infections, or shows ADHD-like behaviors, they need an evaluation—no child should snore, ever. And if as an adult you have unexplained fatigue and brain fog, come be evaluated.

Our Principles based on years of experience

There are physical, genetic, psychological and physiological contributions to interrupted sleep and apnea. Through a holistic evaluation and testing, we look at the root causes and provide solutions to optimize sleep and improve your physical and mental functioning.

Assessments

  • Validated sleep questionnaires:
    • The Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire
    • Lamberg Sleep Questionnaire
    • Fatigue Severity Scale
    • Epworth and STOP-BANG tests
    • SCHNOS Questionnaire for nasal and sinus issues.
  • A deep dive into history to unlock clues about the root causes, including birth, early development, medical and dental histories.
  • 3-D imaging (if the human can sit still) to precisely assess airway anatomy that contributes to airflow limitations, bottlenecks, blockages, obstructions, and more.
  • Comprehensive clinical structural, functional, neurologic, and postural assessment.
  • 4-Phase Rhinomanometry to precisely pinpoint the airway obstructions and validate what treatments are needed.
  • IOPI – measures tongue and lip strength and allows the oral myofunctional therapist and AirSync to monitor and validate progress.
  • Sleep quality assessments with Sleep Imaging and/or Wesper, both easy wearable devices that are used at home, in your bed.
  • Sleep video assessments for infants and toddlers for listening and watching for breathing disordered sleep behaviors.
  • Referrals for bloodwork to look for abnormal chemistry, inflammation, and deficiencies related to sleep quality.

Treatments

  • Oral Myofunctional Therapy
  • Tethered Oral Tissue Release – surgical and nonsurgical
  • Laser Therapies – BabyLase, OraLase, NightLase
  • Exomind
  • Emface
  • Emsella
  • SONU, an FDA-approved device proven to relieve nasal congestion and allergy symptoms without medications (and showing help with headaches, TMJ pain, and calming the nervous system).
  • Oxidative Therapy
  • Pulsetto, a vagus nerve stimulator for calming fight-flight.
  • Referral/coordination with naturopaths/functional medical providers/PCP for supplement recommendations and nutritional guidance.
  • Recommendations for optimizing your home environment.
  • Referrals, as indicated in the sleep data or structural assessment, for medical intervention and assistance (ENT, sleep medicine, etc.).

Outcomes

  • Our holistic approach improves breathing and sleep, resulting in fewer health problems and a better quality of life.
  • Brain and organ function improve due to adequate oxygenation and removal of toxic build-up.
  • Reduction in ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, and overall improved mental wellness as well as optimal mental fitness, emotional development, regulation and functioning.
  • If caught in infancy or early childhood, we can optimize growth and development.
  • More energy for school, work, social interaction, physical activity and athletics.
  • Healthier physical function with fewer headaches and illnesses.
  • Improvement in metabolism, weight, facial structure and overall physical appearance.
  • Better bladder control, less bedwetting, and enhanced sexual wellness.
  • Lower risk of dementia and heart disease as one ages.
  • Halting the development of sleep apnea before it occurs.
  • A baseline data set that enables measurements of improvement or worsening of sleep quality over time.
